Port City WBC Weekly News

 

Tuesday was the first round of the Minor Pairs and the weather wasn’t very kind, very cold and windy with rain. For many of the players it was their first competition, but they handled the conditions very well.

Results from to-day are Eleanore Russell and Jan Opitz def Robyn Hehir and Linda Wright, Robin Kean and Daphne Sumsky def June Edward and Helen Carr, Beth Hicks and Joy Barry def Wendy Kennedy and Pat McNeill and Margaret Edwards and Lorraine Cannon wof Robyn Biddle and Brenda Burge. There will be one more game played on Saturday.

Shirley Devine was the first winner of the spider on the green “Terry Tarantula” for which she received a gift voucher.

First prize in the raffles was won by Pamela Ditchfield, 2^nd Leigh McLean and 3^rd to Helen Cooper.

50 Club 1^st Joan Bird, 2^nd Gwen Hollis, 3^rd Carol Bowman

Helen Cooper was presented with the Trophy for being the most attended social player while pennants were being played this year.

Out of the Hat Fours is on 16^th September and Carol is still taking entries for the Coca Cola Triples Carnival to be played on 22^nd and 23^rd September.

There is to be a Members only Mixed Triples on 11^th October, 3X15 ends. It is single entry and there is a sheet on the notice board for you to enter your names.
