Port City WBC Weekly News 25th July

Despite a frosty start to the day the final of the Club Triples was played in perfect weather.

President Barbara welcomed Margaret Dornan back to bowls and Betty Kenneally.


Congratulations to Gail Carmody, Carol Bowman and Debbie Amor (Skip) who defeated Judy Brady (sub Lois Bishell), Karen McFarlane and Barbara Barrett (Skip) in the Club Triples Final played today.

Also, another round of the Major/Minor Pairs was played today.  Results as follows.

Carol White d Jenny Wallis, Judy Scholz d Joy Barry and Robyn Biddle d Elaine Hercus.

Lucky Rink Winners – 1^st Bonnie Weatherley, Ella Wright, Jan Gauld,
2^nd June Edward, Carol White, Consolation – Margaret Edwards, Helen Carr, Elaine Eames.

Raffle Winners – 1^st Denise Franklin, 2^nd Maureen Orsulich.

60’s Club Winners – 1^st Christina Bluett, 2^nd Anne Connell, 3^rd Zelle Cook

The birthday girls were Joan Bird and Daphne Sumsky and a very special Happy Birthday to Beryl Young. Beryl is one of our non-playing members and often joins us for morning tea. She celebrated her 90^th birthday on 22^nd July.

Minor Pairs opened last week and will close on 6^th August.and will be played on 20^th August.

At the moment we only have five pairs entered. Unless we can have at least 12 pairs the event will have to be called off. So please, ladies, we need you to support this event.

Handicap Triples will be held on Tuesday, 30^th July.

State Pennant Play-off will be held at Port Stephens from 12 – 15 August.

We wish our Grade 1 and Grade 2 girls all the best in this event.

Carol Banks, Carol Bowman, Debbie Amor, Beth Schubert, Barbara Barrett, Eveline Ramsay, Fay Schollum and Jenny Wallis.

Kew Gala Day will be held on 20^th August.
