Congratulations

 To Carol White and Margaret Doyle who played a great game in the finals of the Club Singles Championship. Carol won the Championship for the third time. It was a very close match providing great entertainment for the spectators.

 To Jennifer Munson and Pat Light for winning the Regional Pairs Play-off very convincingly at Kempsey Heights on Tuesday, 30^th April.

 To our 2’s Pennant team for their District win.

 To Barbara and Peter Gunn celebrated their 50^th Wedding Anniversary on 13^th April.

 Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day this year was held at North Haven on 8^th April on a beautiful sunny day.
Gwen Turner became a Star Vet and received her badge and two other ladies also received their badges by mail. It was great to see so many active mature ladies on the greens.

Some of the ladies who joined us for morning tea last month were Marianne Smith, Veronica Davey, Shirley Chapman, Jan Goldman, Irene Turner and Joy Surrey OAM.

There will be no non-playing members’ morning tea next week, due to the Port City Singles being played.

Autism Day

On Sunday 14^th April we held a mixed triples game in aid of the Autism Society and raised over $1800 for this worthy cause.

75^th Anniversary Week 15 – 21 April

 To celebrate this milestone we held a week of bowling events, with players from other clubs being invited to enter the competitions.

Steve Glasson and Wayne Turley were special guests during the week and joined us on the greens to play some exhibition bowls.

Lois Bishell won a bowls bag and a set of Aero bowls and Barbara Griffiths won a bowls bag.
After the game on the final day, Sunday 21^st April we had a delicious dinner followed by a cake that had been made and beautifully decorated by Beth Schubert.

 Club 4’s close on 7^th May and the first round will be played on Tuesday 21^st May.

 There will be no Social Bowls next Tuesday, due to the Men’s Open Singles being played on 13^th and 14^th May.

 North Haven Triples Carnival is on 13^th May.

 UMPIRES’ DISCUSSION GROUP

The next Umpires’ Discussion Group Meeting will be held at Lake Cathie Bowling Club on Monday 20 May 2013 commencing at 9.30am.  The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Laws of our sport or who may be interested in becoming an Umpire.

 The next Quarterly Meeting will be held on 21^st May after lunch.

 The sheet is on the noticeboard to enter Panthers Gala Day – 22^nd May.

This is always a fun day and money raised goes to District to pay for travelling and accommodation expenses for our successful bowlers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all our ladies who have experienced ill health recently and hope you are back bowling again soon.
