Kew Men's Bowling Club

Weekly Newsletter - 12th August, 2023

Monday Monthly Pairs
saw a fantastic days competition with Des Hancox/Steve Smith winning the top prize, 2nd Trent Goffin/Troy Eames, 3rd Mat Kirkman/Glen Hayes, and 4th Graham Conan/Les Allport. The cash jackpot went off with Mick Ashford/Ian Hodgkinson sharing the biscuits with Charles Doyle/Gary Hamilton (great achievement getting biscuits out of Mick’s fingers). Round winners were Charles Doyle/Gary Hamilton, Mick Ashford /Ian Hodgkinson and Barrie Isaac/Mark Hammond.

Wednesday Social Bowls
saw George Wise, Ian Orr and Pat O’Connor grab the winners envelops. Runners Up were Steve Hall, Jeff Wylie and Rocky Davis. Off to the butchers with lucky vouchers were Brad Conway, Pat O’Connor, Peter Mauger and Pete Griffith.

In Men's Division 4 Pennants North Beach forfeited to our Kew Red team, saving them the long journey north. Kew Blue fought Sawtell hard for the Master Board, but ended up going down 38-34. In a close contest, Kew Blue lost by two shots on both rinks. It was great to see so many people watching the game and encouraging the Kew team. Thanks guys! Next week Kew Red will visit Sawtell and hopefully will get some revenge for the Blue side.

In the Friday Jackpot Triples, the jackpot was not won so Treasurer Tony put the money back in his pocket. The winning team was Mark Hammond, Pat Lendrum and Dee Squires. Runners Up were Steve Mantle, Brett Irwin and Ian Orr. Vouchers were snapped up by Stewart Rogan, Jean Donald, Rod Quirk and Adrian Hilton.

Club Pairs commences Sunday 20th August. Check the notice board for the draw. Bowls this week are Wednesday Social and Saturday Cashpot Triples, names in by 11.30 for a 12.30 start mufti dress. To enter ring Chicka 0423787325, Griffo 0413052684 or text Frank 0417698899.

Stewart Rogan, and his able side kick Chicka started construction of the utility shed near the western edge of the grass green. Great effort guys.

Frosty’s operation went well, and he has been evicted by the nurses, returning home Saturday 12th August. We’re all looking forward to his full recovery and his quick return. Reggie is back playing, which is a great example of “ya cant keep a young fella down”.

Well, that's the scoop for this week. Cheers Andrew
