Kew Men's Bowling Club

What a game of bowls, it was a cracker Charles Doyle and Dean Gemmell put on a magnificent exhibition of lawn bowls in the final of the major singles Charles had a handy lead early in the match but Dean fought back to lead 30/25 then Charles played some very good bowls to Win the match 31/30. Congratulations to both players on reaching the final and playing superb bowls.

The AGM is done for another year and we have a few new faces at the helm, President Barrie Isaac, VP Chicka Thompson, Treasurer Tony Austin, Secretary Dave Napper, Bowls Organiser Frank Raczka, Committee Peter Laing, Peter Griffith, John Smith, Bill O’Donnell, Selectors Gary Cheers, Peter Laing and Chicka Thompson, Flag bearers Ray Allan and Adrian Hilton, Welfare Chicka Thompson and Charles Doyle, Publicity Officer Bill O’Donnell.

Following a discussion, unanimously carried that club uniform must be worn for club championship matches and that anyone presenting not in uniform would forfeit the match.

A big surprise to all {especially Barrie} it was proposed that Barrie Isaac be granted life membership of the Kew Bowling Club. This motion was unanimously carried and graciously accepted by Barrie.

Wednesday social and scooting out the door with the cash were Adrian Hilton, Gary Bewley and Rocky Davis, picking up the runner up moola were John Jarvis, Bill O’Donnell and Peter Laing. Vouchers went to Stewart Rogan, John Gemmell, Dick Croft and Frank Raczka.

The draw is on the board for the minor singles please check to see who and when you are playing.

Monday monthly pairs and for the first time we had two teams winning the day Kylie Hardy and Phil Baker tied with Les Allport and Graham Conen, 3rd Robert Tucker and Dick Croft and 4th Daryle Barr and Wayne Thrussell the jackpot did not go off and will be worth $700 on Monday the 6th of September.

This will be my last bowls report after 9 years it’s time to have a break and let some new ideas into filing the reports, thanks to all people who made positive comments about the reports it made the job that much easier. Cheers Frosty.
