Port City WBC Weekly News

President Barbara welcomed the bowlers back and wished them all the best for the New Year. We certainly had a great Christmas Party and we thank all the helpers and entertainers who made it possible.
Barbara advised that District games this year would cost $15 each day and that regulation uniform is to be worn. All pants must have the bowls logo on them.

Next Tuesday, 14th January will see the commencement of District Games. The State Fours and Senior Fours will be played, with the final to be held at North Haven on the 16th January.

21 – 23 January the State Triples will be played with the Final being held at Wauchope on
23rd January.

On Sunday 26th January (Australia Day) there will be a Mixed Ladies or Men’s Triples game. At 9.30 am Damper and Billy Tea will be served, followed by the bowls at 10.00 am. The dress code will be Australian and prizes will be awarded for “Best Dressed”. Cost is $45/team and this will include lunch. Entry Forms are now available and there will be prizes to the value of $700.

On Wednesday 29th January and Thursday 30th January our club will be hosting a State of Origin Ashes Test Series between NSW and QLD. We hope that many of you would take the opportunity of seeing some of the best bowlers in Australia competing in this event. Aron Sherriff, Karen Murphy, Wayne Turley, Nathan Rice, Lynsey Clarke and our own Morgan Solman-Stewart will be playing, to name a few. On Wednesday the Roll-Ups start at 5.15 pm and the game will commence at 5.30 pm. On Thursday there will be two games played over the day.

The Entry Forms are now available for the Easter Carnival so it’s not too early to put your teams together.

We received a card from Joy Surrey OAM advising us of her successful transition to a Retirement Village at Kincumber on the Central Coast and wishing us all the compliments of the season.

It was good to see Ingrid code with us again.

The weather was overcast but we managed to get our game in.

Happy Birthday to Betty Hodgson who had a birthday today and to Ann Kirk for last December.
