Port City WBC News 6th September

 
We were pleased to see President Barbara back with us after a short illness.
Tuesday 4th September was another fine day for our "Out of the Hat Fours" and
congratulations to the winners Wendy Kennedy, Dulcie Holihan, Faye Schollum and Skip Hazel Durrant - 2nd place to Frances Fairbrother, Jenny Wallis, Judy Brady and Skip Elaine Eames - 3rd place to Jenny Devitt, Rose Edwards, Lois Bishell and Skip Mary Norman - 4th place to Trish Wellings, Lorraine Cannon, Gail Carmody and Skip Beth Schubert.
The 50's Club winners were - 1st Ingrid Code - 2nd Joan Bird and 3rd Gail Carmody.
Raffle winners were - 1st Eveline Ramsay - 2nd Jenelle Francis.

The quarter finals of the minor pairs were played 30th August and the winners were Dawn Olsen/Francis Fairbrother who defeated Jan Drewsen/Beth Hicks. Gail Carmody/Eleanor Russell defeated Joy Barry/Wendy Kennedy. Barbara Griffiths/June Edward defeated Rita Koenig/Mary Cornock Barbara Owens/Helen Carr defeated Ann Kirk/Brenda Burge.

Semi-finals to be played on 6th September.

Consistency Singles open 11th September, close on 2nd October and commence on 16th October.

Our club is very privileged to have two very able bowls coaches Shirley Devine and Margaret Doyle who run circuit training every Friday morning at 10.00 am. A big thank you to them for all their work during the year.

A reminder that the Pennant List is up on the notice board and all members are encouraged to enter their names for next year's Pennants.

We would love to see as many members as possible going to Tuncurry to encourage our girls in the State Playoffs at Tuncurry. The dates are from 6th to 13th October. We have representatives in the singles, pairs, triples, open fours and senior fours. More details later.

Our next quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday 11th September.

Next Tuesday 11th September we welcome our non-playing members to morning tea at 10.30 am.
