IT’S A FACT         -          A new addition from Vice President Carol Bowman

Possession of the rink WILL belong to the player or team whose bowl is being played.  As soon as each bowl comes to rest, possession of the rink will transfer to the opposing player or team after allowing time for the marking of a toucher as soon as it comes to rest.
When changing from the mat to the head (eg before the skip’s turn to bowl) it is polite to remain behind the last player to bowl until her bowl comes to rest, walking in front of the last to play can be a breach of Laws and Conditions of Play..
Also, as a courtesy to those on the next rink, try to walk up and down the centre of your rink.   Walking near the boundary pegs can disturb the player on the next rink trying to play her bowl.   It is also a requirement of the Laws that you stay on your own rink, even if the neighbouring rink is not being used.  You can be penalised for walking down a rink other than your own.
Remember when changing from end to end if you are not in possession of the rink please do so WITHOUT DELAY, penalties apply.

The above is covered by Laws 35 & 36 ie Possession of the rink & Position of players.

Thanks to Ann Kirk, Acting Publicity Officer
