Port City WBC Versatility Fives 2012


After 2 days of wintry,windy conditions we finally concluded our tournament in the warmth of the club house.
Many thanks to our umpires who had to sit out in the cold conditions (some found a sheltered spot) and to all the men who volunteered their time to do the marking and also the men's committee who did the catering for both days. It was an excellent tournament and congratulations to President Barbara on her first officiial tournament.

Port City Women's Versatility Fives

 
Day 1 of the Port City Women's Versatility Fives as played under challenging conditions with a strong wind and cold temperatures. Players from "near and wide" braved the conditions with all greens filled.

Port City WBC News 30th July


On Tuesday  24th July there were no bowls as the greens were closed due to heavy rain.
Results of the club Championship Triples: - Round 2 -  Barbara Barrett & team d. Morgan Solmon-Stewart and team, next round will be played on Thursday 2nd August.

Men's State Pennant Finals this Weekend

 
The NSW State Pennant Finals are on this weekend with sectional play on Saturday and Sunday morning. The semi finals are played on Sunday afternoon with the final on Monday morning.

Port City Men's Minor Pairs Final

The final of the Port City Men's Minor Pairs was played this afternoon under clear skies and a challenging wind. Graeme McKay and Shane Muir took out the title 22 - 19 in a close match with Robert Bradbury and Chris Campbell the runners up.

Port City WBC News 12th July

Although small in number the social games on Tuesday were very enjoyable and we welcomed Jenny Devitt back after a long absence. Two Club Major Triples games were played - Beth Schubert def Fay Martin and Lyn Thompson def Debbie Amor. Thank you to Judy Scholz for umpiring. It was announced that our girls were winners in the Regional Play - offs at Taree for the Open Fours - Margaret Walsh (skip), Karen McFarlane, Shirley Devine, Jenny Wallis and the Senior Fours - Jennifer Munson (skip), Norma Schwartz, Adriana Cutler, and Rhonda Evans and now proceed to play in the State final at Tuncurry in October.

Port City Men's BC - AGM 2012

The Port City Men's Bowling Club will hold their 2012 AGM on Saturday 21st July commencing at 9:30 am at the Club.

Nominations for the Committee and Selectors has closed and voting will be held from 12:00 noon - 12:50 pm and 4:20 - 5:30 pm on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th, Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th July at the Club.

State Junior Championships at Warilla

Jai Whelan, Port City, did the club proud in the State Junior Championships this week in Warilla.

Jai won 2 games in the sectional play then went down to the eventual runner up Jono Davis, Play continues with the 4's followed by the pairs . Jai is back on the green with Jack Lewis (Wauchope) for the pairs play.

Mixed Pairs at Westport

Mixed Pairs bowlers are a hardy lot - after the tournament last week end at the 3 local clubs many are back again this week end at Westport for the popular Growers Market $3,000 Mixed Pairs.

With back-to-back wins Jenny Roberts & Greg Brims took out the tournament and the $900 first prize. Second place went to Carol & Alan White with 4 wins +50.

Port City WBC Weekly News 5th July

President Shirley welcomed players in the Club Major Triples on Tuesday and also Rachael Shorten (Campbelltown) Anne Ridley (Hornsby) and Miriam Thompson (Penguin, Tas). Winners of the matches were - (skips only) B. Barrett def K. Bain, L. Thompson def A. Cutler, B. Hall def P. Murphy, M. Cutting def A. Kirk, D. Amor def M. Edwards, P. Light def K. Bassett, F. Martin def D. Stone, B. Schubert def M. Walsh, H. Durrant def M. Norman, R. Biddle def B. Owens. R. Roach def G. Greenaway. The brisk south/westerly winds made it a very challenging day and further games were played  yesterday.

Port Macquarie Mixed Pairs - Final Day

 
The Port Macquarie Mixed Pairs tournament was completed this morning in chilly conditions but the rain held off for another day. With several teams completing the first 4 rounds with 4 wins the pressure was for this group to win again this morning.

After winning last year Greg Brims (skip) and Jenny Roberts took out the 2012 title again with an impressive 5 wins +93 shots. Last night's leader Debbie Amor went down the final game to finish with 4 wins.
