Port City WBC News 28th June




Wintery conditions prevailed on Tuesday 26th with players leaving the green due to light rain and social bowls was called off for the day. One Club Major Triples Championship between Jennifer Munson and Adele Pobje was rescheduled to Thursday 28th. All other games in the Club Major Triples will commence next Tuesday 3rd July. The Major/Minor Competition will close next Tuesday 3rd July.


After an early lunch President Shirley announced that the AGM will be held on Monday 16th July at 9 am and nominations for positions on the Committee and also expressions of interest for Welfare, Publicity, Dining Room, Merchandising and Raffles will close on Monday 2nd July. Please put the date in your diary as we need your support and attendance at the meeting.

Raffles we were won by - 1st Pamela Ditchfield 2nd Judy Brady 3rd Daphne Sumsky - and our grateful thanks to Dulcie Holihan for the donation of a fruit basket.

Lucky rink winners 1st Bonnie Weatherley, Brenda Burge, Mary Norman 2nd Rhonda Evans, Faye Schollum, Carol Bowman, Beth Schubert Consolation Angie Williams, Helen Cooper, Barbara Griffiths.

The Versatility Fives Carnival has now been filled and Carol Bowman is taking names for a reserve list. Play is 3Oth/31st July.

Members were reminded that to enter any of the championships their dues MUST be paid before 30th June.

DRESS CODE - The May-June edition of Bowls News has an update of the dress code and it is now possible to wear a coloured shirt with BA Logo to any SOCIAL game of bowls. However ALL STATE, DISTRICT, CLUB and PENNANT GAMES must have approved Club dress.

There will be NO SOCIAL BOWLS this Saturday due to the Mixed Pairs Tournament at Port City, Westport and Panthers Clubs.
