Port City WBC March Newsletter

Mother Nature has been reasonably kind to us with the Pennant season well under way.   We have had mixed results so far but the cheer squad is needed for some teams.   Thank you to the umpires for their diligence and also the social committee for their delicious sandwiches.

Entries for the Club Major Singles Championship will close on 6th March with play to commence on 20th March.  Good luck to all participants.

District Triples, Fours and Senior Fours events will close on 12th March.  Be quick if you wish to enter.

Veterans Day to be held at Lake Cathie on 2nd April is to close shortly and if you need transport to this event please indicate on the list.   Morning tea 10am for players and 12.30 pm lunch only.

Our Easter Carnival is very popular and Carol Bowman needs to receive your nomination as soon as possible.   Date 7th April Easter Saturday 3 bowl pairs with 3 games of 12 ends.  $30 per team.  Should be a great day.

Handicap triples on 10th April.   We need more entries for this event.   Don’t be shy and ask some of the more experienced players to join you to make up the handicap of 9.  Entries into the box and don’t forget to cross your team’s names off the list on the board.

Relay for Life will be held this year on the 24th/25th March and Robyn Biddle is looking for teams and sponsors - $15 registration fee with loads of fun while helping a worthwhile cause – The Cancer Council.    Heard that there is to be an undies run at 2am!

The next non player’s morning tea will be held on Tuesday 13th March 10.30 am.   Looking forward to seeing many of you for a chat and a cuppa on that day.

AND JUST FOR A LAUGH

Has your wife learned to drive yet?  Only in an advisory capacity.

Our marriage was a love match pure and simple.
She was pure and I was simple.

A little boy asked his father,
‘Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?’
Father replied, I don’t know son, I’m still paying.

A very Happy Easter to everyone and if you are taking a short break please drive safely – we need every one of you to make this Club the great Club that it is today.

To any of our members or their families who are not feeling well we wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you back at the Club soon.

Thanks to Ann Kirk for this report.
