Lake Cathie Women's Bowling Club

Hello Ladies,

What can I say about last Tuesday's President's Day/50th Birthday? It was a fabulous day of friendship and bowls. The weather performed, as requested, brilliantly, allowing us to play uninterrupted until lunchtime.

From President Anne...

A Big Thank You to all the people who helped make our 50th Birthday such a successful and enjoyable day. Jill and Geoff for designing the coaster and the programme. Gary Blackler for designing and laminating the placemats and, also printing the programme. Liz and the Social Ladies for decorating the room and John Fuller for blowing up the balloons. Margaret and her team of Selectors for putting the teams together. The ladies who baked and put on a delicious morning tea. Beryl and her Team for running the Trade Table, Daphne and Ros for organising the Raffle and all the ladies who sewed, baked, donated or made things for the Trade Table and everyone who donated by buying tickets and goods. Lorraine and Di Spinks for running the Shop. The Committee for all their hard work to ensure that the day ran smoothly.

The gods must have been smiling on us for the rain to stop long enough for Jason and Greg to prepare the greens so that we could bowl. Margaret, from the Little Schnit CafĂ©, did an amazing job to prepare lunch for us from a kitchen that she’d never worked in, with equipment that Lauren had to look up the manual to find out how to turn things on.

The District Clubs were all very supportive of our special day as were our guests. I know that Dilys, BNSW President, really enjoyed her day and we certainly all enjoyed having her there to share it with us.

A remarkable effort by all who made, donated and bought - what a generous club Lake Cathie WBC is! Lastly, many thanks to all our members who attended this very special celebration.

.... Anne.

Congratulations

We congratulate Merit Pin recipients Judi Blackler, Di Fischer, Margaret Waite, Liz Fuller and Daphne Teiffel. Thank you Ladies for all you do to make our Club such a special place.

We also would like to thank Lauren and Topsy for their kind words and lovely orchids, Dilys Kindleysides and BNSW for the beautiful gift of a Silver plate and the District Clubs who sent congratulatory birthday wishes. It was wonderful to share our day with them.

The Shed
Our room in the shed has now been emptied. The Salvos came and collected 8 containers of fancy dress concert items and we now have a shelf at the back of the Greenkeepers' shed for storage.

Lost Property
A reminder that there are some lost property items in the locker room near the printer. Check them out to see if there might be something of yours. (I'm hoping that's where my lifter is hiding)

Joke of the Week

A little boy was waiting on the street for his mother. As he waited, he was approached by a man who asked, "Son, can you tell me where the Post Office is?"

The little boy replied, "Sure! Just go straight down this street two blocks and turn to your right."

The man thanked the boy kindly and said, "I'm the new pastor in town. I'd like you to come to church on Sunday. I'll show you how to get to Heaven."

The little boy replied with a laugh; "You're kidding me, right? You don't even know the way to the Post Office."

Sending get well wishes to all who are unwell, hope to see you back soon
