News from Lake Cathie - WBC

The news report from the Lake Cathie Women's BC for the week ending Sunday the 30th of January, 2022 follows.

Thanks to Jill Howard for this report and photo.

Lake Cathie Women's Bowling Club

Hello Ladies,

We are now in our 49th year and had a lovely day on Tuesday celebrating our birthday with a great day of bowling via President v Secretary Day. The old scrapbooks full of newspaper cuttings and photo albums scattered on the tables gave a great deal of pleasure and happy memories to all before and after bowls.

Forty bowlers split to form the teams with the Secretary, Di Fischer, and her team overcoming President Anne Wilson’s team by a small margin.  Congratulations to all players and the various committees who worked hard behind the scenes to make it such a memorable day.

Lucky Rink Winners / Runners Up

Tuesday Jan 25th

Congrats to Di Fischer, Barbie Robberson and Kay Jobson this week’s winners, and runners up Lyn Watson, Jean West and Chris Baldwin.

Minor Pairs Championship

Saturday Jan 29 - Round 1

Patricia Cahill and Bev Ascot-Evans defeated Margaret Waite and Kyna Waite.

Trade Table

Our first trade table for the year is coming up on Tuesday 1st February and as always the tables will be groaning under the weight of all the goodies donated by our generous members.  Marilyn Heselhurst and her girls do a wonderful job but of course, without your donations the tables would be empty.  P.S. Anyone who has time, your help in baking up some treats would be gratefully accepted, as would any other donations.

After bowls on Saturday LCWBC hosted a fundraiser in aid of Port Macquarie Women’s Refuge which saw a lovely turnout.  The final figure donated will be advised shortly but the organisers wish to thank both those who attended and those who donated who couldn’t make it on the day. Also a big thanks to the models and those who contributed by bringing in a “plate”.
