Lake Cathie Women's Bowling Club

Hello Ladies,

Last day of Summer and we hope it’s the last week that rain delays and curtails our bowls! Luckily yesterday we managed 10 ends before it bucketed down. With Pennant games fast approaching, the roll up was appreciated by many. But some of our ladies who participated in the district matches may have been glad of a rest lol. Lake Cathie teams as usual did us proud, with Jenny Roberts and Lynne Thompson bringing home the District Senior Pairs Championship. Congratulations to them and all the others who played.

This week also saw a visit from our local member Leslie Williams, who was invited to the Club by Dorothy Lynch to thank her, and the Department of Sport, for the grant of $5000.00 received, which has been used to purchase 10 sets of lightweight bowls to aid junior participation in the sport in our area. Checkout Club Lake Cathie’s Facebook page for more details and photos.

Joke of the Week

It’s the World Cup Final, and a man makes his way to his seat right next to the pitch. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks his neighbour if someone will be sitting there. ‘No,’ says the neighbour. ‘The seat is empty.’ ‘This is incredible,’ said the man. ‘Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Final and not use it?’ The neighbour says, ‘Well actually the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first World Cup Final we haven’t been to together since we got married.’ ‘Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s terrible….But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend, relative or even a neighbour to take her seat?’ The man shakes his head. ‘No,’ he says. ‘They’re all at the funeral.’
