I received the following news release from Bronwyn Haynes of Crookwell, a country town north of Goulburn NSW, regarding Joan Boothman at their local bowls club.
I didn't know the location of Crookwell or of Joan but she is one of many dedicated members of bowls clubs with their invaluable contribution and they are typically the "heart and soul" of the club.
"Joan Boothman honoured with life membership to Crookwell Services Women’s Bowling club
Joan joined the Crookwell Bowling Club in 1984.
Since then she has served three times as president, several terms as vice president, chairperson of selectors; chairperson of the social committee, and patron.
Mrs Boothman has also served for ten years as treasurer of the Men’s Bowling club
She has been a tireless worker for the club being first to donate for raffles and cook for stalls, helping whenever required.
This honour is well deserved and unanimously supported by all the club’s members.
While not only working for the club Joan has won singles, pairs, triples and fours club championships as well as participating in State Pennant playoffs
Joan’s achievements in both bowls and administration are to be congratulated"
I'm sure your congratulations would be appreciated by Joan - you can email via Bronwyn Haynes at: bronwyn.haynes@fairfaxmedia. com.au or leave a message at the bottom of this posting.
