The final of the Zone 14 LNC section of the State Fours Championships was
played and won at the Hibbard Sports Club, home of the Port Panthers, today,
18th March, 2016. The Port City team of John Hrabak, Ken Paulsen, Bryce Stewart
and Danny Barratt won the day 21-12 over the North Haven team of Keith Martin,
Kevin Wholohan, Greg Brims and Shane Globits.
In glorious conditions, the teams produced very good, tight bowling with
Port City skipper, Danny Barratt finishing off the ends in great style,
eventually taking the jack into the ditch on the 20th end to thwart the hopes of
the opposition. Congratulations to all for a great exhibition of bowling.
The Zone Final of the State Fours will now be fought out between the Port City team and Cameron Wills, Rummy Cutmore, Phil Toy and Rod Farmer of Park Beach on the 13th August, 2016 at the Lake Cathie BC and this should be a very good game also.
Many thanks to Terry Merchant for his continued efficiency in running the
event and to Keith Ashdown for umpiring the day and to all the spectators and
supporters who turned up to witness the event.
