The two day Coca Cola Triples Carnival was held this week and we had teams from Kew, Lake Cathie, Westport, Wauchope, Panthers, North Haven, Tuncurry/Forster Sports, Forster and as far away as Mermaid Beach Qld. What a good turnout and the weather was just about perfect.

Coca Cola Triples Carnival


Day 1 - Winners Anne Wilson, Yvonne Howard and Judy Blackler (Lake Cathie)
Runners up - Carol Owen, Denise Penney and Colleen Purnell (Westport)
Third place - Jeanice Scheimer, Betty Hodgson and Shirley Devine (Port City)
This was the first day of a 2 day Carnival and we had teams from all over the district, Forster and even a team from Mermaid Beach, Queensland.

Port City WBC Minor Pairs Final

2014 Winners Minor Pairs Barbara Owens & Mary Bennett

The final of the Minor Pairs was played to-day between Mary Bennett and Barbara Owens V Lyn Zahra and Pam Smith. The weather was perfect with only a light breeze, and the game was very even all the way through, until the last couple of ends. Mary and Barbara got a couple of shots and came out the winners. Congratulations to all of you in getting through to the finals.

Men's Inter-Zone Update

Zone 14 has won the sectional play with a win in round 3 to advance to the semi finals tomorrow. They play Zone 1 (Far North Coast) contesting a spot in the finals. Well done!

Men's Inter-Zone Championships

The Bowls NSW Men's Inter-Zone Championships are underway at Dubbo from Friday 12th - Sunday 14th September. Our Zone 14 includes local players Col Baldwin, Scott Franklin, Peter Taylor, Ken Paulsen, Greg Brims, Peter Stockham and Chris Balaam.

What a relief on Tuesday to wake up to a lovely day for our Handicap Triples.
The morning game was played in good conditions, but then in the afternoon the bowls seemed to have a mind of their own. It was pretty tricky.

Port City WBC Handicap Triples 9th September 2014


Port City Handicap Triples were played to-day and the overall winners for the day were Shirley Devine, Gale Carmody and Jo Jenkins. Runners up Jenny Wallis, Frances Green and Barbara Standen. Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who competed  in the very windy conditions.

Junior Exchange Event.

Play commenced today at Port City with the juniors in action from the NSW Combined High Schools, Bowls NSW, NSWWBA & Southern All Stars. Play continues tomorrow, Wednesday, and concludes on Thursday noon with the presentations.

LNC Pairs Championships

The quarter finals of the LNC Champion of Club Champions Pairs were played at Port Panthers today. The semi finals, scheduled for Saturday 20th Sept. will see G. Powick(Kempsey Heights) vs. E. Sharman (Wauchope) and G. Brims (Port City) vs. K. Wholohan (Kew).

Here Come the Juniors

The annual NSW State Juniors vs CHS squad test series will be held at Port City from Tuesday 9th - Thursday 11 September. The State squad will be looking to win the Neville Schwartz trophy now held be the CHS side.

Come out and enjoy the fun - their enthusiasm is infectious!

Port City WBC Weekly News

We held our Daffodil Day on Tuesday 2nd September and welcomed District President Diana Upcroft and Panthers President Robyn Crosariol. There were 66 players including visitors from Westport, Wauchope and Panthers Bowling Clubs. Club Limited donated the Green Fees of $490.00, and we had a Trading Table, Raffles and a Spider and the overall proceeds of over $1400 were donated to The Cancer Council.
