Port City WBC Weekly News 23rd May



Tuesday 21st May we had a beautiful autumn day for Social Bowls and for the start of the Club Fours. Results as follows: - R Biddle def B Hall - B Schubert def M Walsh - F Martin def M Norman - P Light def K Bain - J Scholz def B Owens - D Amor def R Hehir - L Thompson def E Eames.

The following matches will be played on Thursday 23rd May -  R Biddle v L Thompson, B Schubert v F Martin, D Amor v E Hercus . On Tuesday 28th May P Light v J Scholz.

The Final of the Club Pairs was played last Saturday between Margaret Walsh and Shirley Devine and Beth Schubert (sub Morgan Solman-Stewart) and Lois Bishell. On Tuesday President Barbara presented badges to the winners of the Club Pairs Margaret Walsh and Shirley Devine.  Both girls were very thrilled as this is the first time either of them has won a Club Pairs.
Our two birthday girls, Carol Banks and Grace Greenaway received drink vouchers from the club.

We wish Shirley Chapman all the best for her upcoming surgery on 29th May

We will be holding “The Biggest Morning Tea” on Tuesday 28th May. Devonshire Tea will be served at 9.00, before bowls, for a gold coin donation.
Please come earlier than usual and you will need to provide your own lunch.
Club Triples open Tuesday 28th May, close 18th June and will be played on 2nd July.
It is the Port Macquarie City WBC Birthday on Tuesday 11th June and we will be welcoming District representatives to our club to present the Pennant Badges to our successful Grade 1 and Grade 2 District Pennant Winners.  You will need to provide your own lunch on that day.
Versatility Fives will be played on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th June.  We are still needing helpers in the kitchen and to help set up the tables and would be grateful if you could put your name down if you are willing to help. Thanks to all who donated spiders for the event.

On 17th and 18th June the Regional Pennant Playoff will take place at Wingham. Congratulations to our Grade 1 and Grade 2 District Pennant Winners, who will be representing us.
Congratulations to Carol White, who will be representing the club in the Regional Singles Play-off at Westport on Thursday 27th June.  Good Luck Carol.
The AGM is on Tuesday 15th July and nomination forms are available. See noticeboard.
